As a reminder, Heartbeats will be having a meeting in the basement of the union (Sabarro area) on Sept. 2nd at 7 pm. Snacks will be provided and the meeting shouldn’t last more than 30 minutes. I know we all have busy lives!
Come and see exactly what Heartbeats is about and help us get this year’s social and volunteer plans into motion.
If you have any questions please e-mail either Alle (asuehl2@illinois.edu) or Ange (amalone2@illinos.edu).
If you are unable to make the meeting but are still interested in the club, please send Alle or Ange an e-mail and if you are no longer interested in the club, plus let one of us know that as well.

From Ben’s email:
Next meeting time/date has been set.
- Next Tuesday, 2/12, 6:00pm
- 127 English Building
The Hunt is coming along nicely, but there is a ways to go yet. There will be a list of people to call, things to do, and cookies! Everyone can pick out what they want to do, and then go for it. So, as usual, simple, delicious, and short.
For those of you who have problems with Tuesday nights, hold tight. We’re working on a Wednesday afternoon after-school visit, and we’ll be announcing it as soon as it’s set. Thanks for your patience. I’ll hopefully have an email signup for the things that are left after the meeting.
Stay interested, stay involved, and always think of those you know affected by heart disease. We can make a difference.

Update: The date for our meeting has changed, and we will no longer be meeting tonight. Our first meeting of the semester will be next Tuesday, January 22, from 5:30 - 6:30. We’re still working on a location, but it’ll be posted here when we know. There were a lot of people that couldn’t make the previous time, so we’ve been forced to move it back. Also, the meeting on January 29th is tentatively scheduled at this point.
Update 2: The meeting on Tuesday, January 22 will be held in the Courtyard Cafe. It was previously booked for Gregory Hall, so make sure you don’t go to the wrong place!
Spring 2008 is going to be a fantastic semester here with the Heartbeats. We’ve got volunteering opportunities and a massive campaign to support research that needs your help. Hunt for Heart promises to be something very special on March 29. The work (and crazily fun work at that
starts now. We’ve got 5 teams, each handling a specific area of the hunt. The coordinators email addresses are posted below, if you’re interested in helping out an area, please let them know. For any general concerns, just email Ben.
We’ve also got our first 2 meetings scheduled. The first one will be Thursday, 1/17 (this week!) Tuesday 1/22, and the next is Tuesday, 1/29. They are both from 7-8pm in 113 Gregory Hall. The first meeting will be in the Courtyard Cafe, and the second is tentatively scheduled for Gregory Hall 113. We’ve got lots to talk about, and Ben will be bringing homemade cookies and tea! See ya there.

Kathy Alexander was nice enough to write up some notes from out last meeting. They are very detailed, and wonderful. If you didn’t have a chance to make it to the last meeting, or just wanted a quick recap, you can find the meeting notes here.

Hey everyone! We have a fundraiser this weekend and it’s probably the easiest fundraiser you’ve ever done. All you have to is pass out some of these Qdoba flyers to your friends– For each person who takes one of our flyers to Qdoba this weekend and buys an entree, the Illini Heartbeats earns a dollar. It’s so easy! We passed some flyers out at the meeting, but if you didn’t get enough, you can also download it here.

Update: In case anybody missed it in the email, the general meeting will be held in 207 Gregory Hall. See ya there!
Last night’s general meeting was very successful– we had delicious cookies and cider, talked about your upcoming blood drive, passed out flyers for the Qdoba fundraiser, and started planning our campus-wide scavenger hunt. We also got to see a few new faces. If you weren’t able to make it, email Ben for a full recap.
We’re going to have one more general meeting before the end of the semester, to firm up some more details about the scavenger hunt. It’s going to be huge, so we’d like to get as many people involved as we can. The next meeting is set for Tuesday, Nov. 27th at 7pm. We’re still working on a location, so we’ll send out an email when we find one.

We also really need volunteers this coming Friday and Monday 10-2pm and 4:30-6:30 for the Advanced Filtration corporate health fair. American Heart Association brownie points. Please email Ben to let me know if you can come. It would be an easy assignment of staffing an AHA booth and dispensing healthy information to hard working men and women at Advanced Filtration, inc, in Champaign.
